Deciding to implement NetSuite as your ERP solution is a wise choice, and it reflects your informed decision-making. However, the implementation phase requires a deeper and more detailed level of thoughtful planning and consideration to avert potential risks.

I have been involved in 100’s of  NetSuite implementations in my career and have observed common mistakes that lead to cost overruns, extended timelines, and even complete project failure. Common mistakes include:

  • Poor planning and  unclear goals
  • Unrealistic Timeline: Implementing NetSuite will require time away from daily tasks due to
  • Employee resistance to new systems can hinder adoption and decrease productivity.
  • Data migration issues, such as incomplete or dirty data in the old system, can cause migration problems and lead to inaccurate data in NetSuite.
  • Limited vendor support can leave you struggling with troubleshooting and unresolved issues if you choose a vendor with poor support.
  • Scope creep, which involves continuously adding new features and functionalities during implementation, can strain resources and inflate costs.

It’s worth considering the client’s role as a major risk factor in the success of ERP implementations. Often, clients overlook their own responsibility to ensure the timely and successful completion of the project. It is easy to point fingers at the ERP vendor or partner, but a crucial step towards success is appointing an internal project leader to oversee the implementation. This leader should be responsible for monitoring the project’s progress, ensuring that it stays within budget and is completed on time.

Are you ready to start the implementation?  Do you have that person?

I offer client-side implementation services to ensure your implementation is completed on budget and on time. I can act as your internal project leader and provide guidance throughout the implementation process. As your internal project manager, I assist with:
